Summary
A welcoming and progressive secondary school in the Whitehaven area is looking for a committed SEND Teaching Assistant to join their inclusive support team. This long-term role offers the opportunity to make a real difference to young people with a range of additional needs in both classroom and targeted 1:1 settings.
The Role
You'll be supporting pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4, including some working at foundation levels. The role involves working closely with students who have needs such as Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, learning disabilities, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. You'll provide a balance of classroom support and focused intervention sessions within the SEND department.
Your role will include:
 * Supporting students in lessons to access the curriculum
 * Delivering or assisting with 1:1 and small group interventions
 * Helping students regulate emotions and build confidence
 * Communicating effectively with teaching staff and the wider SEND team
 * Promoting inclusion, wellbeing and engagement at all times
Who We're Looking For
You'll be someone who brings empathy, patience, and strong communication skills to every interaction. You might have worked in education, care, or support before-or have relevant personal experience. The ideal candidate will:
 * Have experience supporting young people with additional needs
 * Be confident working across a range of learning styles and abilities

Working Hours
 * Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 3.30pm
 * Part-time and full-time roles available
 * Term time only

If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
