Education MH Support Worker Trainee (EMHP)

Mental Health Support Teams inSchools in Herefordshire and Worcestershire is expanding further.
Known as Wellbeing &Emotional Support Teams (WEST), the service is across Herefordshire andWorcestershire schools to provide early help for children and young people aged5 - 18 experiencing mental health problems.
We offer evidence-based lowintensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) interventions for children andyoung people, Whole School Approach and Consultations in schools.
We are supportive, share knowledge,learn from our experiences, and have attractive training packages, making thework place a good place to be.
The service operates Monday toFriday 9am-5pm, using a multi professional working in our team approach.
We are expanding our portfolioof schools in Worcestershire and Herefordshire and require eight trainee postsfor the WEST Service which sit across both the Worcestershire and Herefordshirecounties.
Successful candidates willundertake the EMHP Training course at a university allocated nearer the time.Starting dates will be September/October 2025 for one cohort and January 2026for the second cohort. Initial contractis fixed term 12 months when you will be paid at Band 4. If you qualify and become registered with theaccredited governing body you will then move to a permanent contract and paidat Band 5.
Successful applicants will be required tosign an addendum to contract as part of the conditional offer of employment.
Main duties of the job
To be educationallysupervised, assess and deliver outcome focused, evidence-based interventions ineducational settings for children and young people (CYP)
Developing skills insupporting children and young people with mild to moderate mental health difficulties,parents/carers, and educators in the self-management of presenting difficulties
Where appropriateparents/carers will work collaboratively and coproduce with practitioners theirown agreed plan of care
Undertake accurateassessments of risk to self and to others
Engage and learn fromaligned education settings and mental health links
Engage in robustmanagerial and clinical supervision agree on the appropriate children and youngcases
Practice, evidence,reflect on and demonstrate an ability to manage ones own caseload
Attend multi-professionalmeetings
Keep coherent recordsof all training and clinical activity in line with both health and educationservice protocols and use these records and outcome data to inform decisionmaking, provide data collection
Evidence of workingwithin a collaborative approach, with teachers, parents, children and youngpeople, and other community agencies
Development ofclinical and/or training materials

Working with and within education environments to affordbetter access to specialist MH services
To evidence development of those skills with associatedknowledge acquisition to record and evidence progression towards an academicaward and demonstrable practical ability.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Commitment and understanding of the specific study expectations for undertaking the required formal academic training for the role
* Good solid basic literacy and numeracy qualifications at a minimum of level 2
* Degree
* Masters
Skills & Abilities
* Ability to learn in a variety of settings and using a variety of learning methods
* Ability to study as a self-motivated learner who can formulate their own progress towards learning objectives and negotiate pathways to achievement with supervisory teams
Knowledge
* Knowledge of the educational system in England
* Knowledge of children and young people gained through academic study in child development, child wellbeing or mental health
* Knowledge of Mental Health Support Teams in schools Programme locally and nationally

* Team player
* Excellent time management and organisational skills
* Ability to personally manage a sensitive, traumatic and potentially emotionally distressing caseload
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Able to meet the travel requirements of the post
Experience
* It is desirable that the applicant will have previous experience of working with children and young people
