Description & Requirements For our Equity Research division in London we are looking to hire an Equity Research Associate (Metals and Mining)
Your role in the team
Berenberg’s Mining Research team is a sector‑leading equity research team with a dedicated focus on metals and mining. We are looking for an Equity Research Associate with a passion and interest for the mining sector to join to help support the sustained coverage of large, medium and small market capitalisation mining companies, as well as to support the build out of increased coverage. The role will be working within a team of three/four with one, experienced, lead analyst heading the team. Key tasks include the building and maintaining of financial models on both companies and commodities, writing equity research reports and daily emails on mining companies and commodities, meeting investors and management teams, servicing client and internal requests, attending site visits and conferences, and undertaking bespoke projects relating to the mining sector. A strong work ethic, ability to work as a team and good communication skills are key attributes, and we are looking for someone who can translate their passion and interest for this very interesting and topical sector into becoming, in time, a publishing equity research analyst.
What will you do?
* Financial modelling of companies
* Writing equity research reports and other notes/products on mining companies, commodities and sector themes
* Building and maintaining commodity supply and demand models
* Attend management presentations, client meetings, site visits and sales briefings
* Support the lead analyst in their role with a range of bespoke projects including updating presentations, deep‑dives on sectors and stock‑specific research
Who are we looking for?
* Mining or commodities experience desirable (geology, mining engineering, mining research/investment banking, commodity research or trading)
* Passion and commitment to the mining sector
* Financial modelling skills desirable as building and maintaining financial models is a core part of the role
* Required to undertake bespoke project work, e.g. excel modelling, project/commodity research, Pow-erPoint presentations. Experience in report writing is also required
* Respond to client/internal requests as well as attending site visits
* Team focused individual with good communication skills
