We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead and manage the design process in accordance within the clients policy, Heathrow Gateway lifecycle requirements, and programme plans. The successful candidate will ensure that the design of permanent works and related temporary conditions is delivered to the required quality, on schedule, and within budget, following the Design Management Plan and contract requirements. Key responsibilities include managing and coordinating multiple design organisations and subcontractors, ensuring procurement contracts capture all design scope and process requirements, and agreeing design scopes, deliverables, and schedules. The role requires proactive management of design changes, risks, and opportunities to maximise project value and benefits for multiple stakeholders. The Engineering Manager will champion health, safety, welfare, and sustainability principles, including Safe by Design, and audit compliance with CDM Regulations 2015 and relevant governance. They will facilitate design coordination and reviews, ensuring BIM models are accurate, clash-free, and fully utilised. The role also involves preparing design packs for construction teams and providing ongoing technical support. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential to monitor performance against KPIs, close out design contracts, and coordinate technical reviews of main and subcontractor designs to meet project and programme requirements. Skills: Design Management experience Mechanical Engineering qualification and background Good working knowledge of HVAC systems Minimum 10 years' experience in design and subcontractor design management Experience working in complex projects with multiple stakeholders, preferably in aviation Working knowledge of RIBA stages, Heathrow standards and processes Understanding of CDM Regulations 2015 and ACOPs Ability to manage procurement and subcontractor contracts effectively Strong risk, change, and opportunity management skills Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills Software/Tools: BIM software (e.g., Revit, Navisworks) Design coordination and document management tools Common project management software Certifications & Standards: HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering (essential) Relevant CSCS card (essential) Degree qualification (desirable) Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., IMechE, CIBSE) (desirable) SMSTS Please send CVs to
