Location: Ewelme depot (with occasional work at other depots when required) Hours: 6:00am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday Are you practical, hands-on, and take pride in keeping things running smoothly and looking their best? We're looking for a reliable Depot Maintenance Operative to join our team and help maintain the day-to-day upkeep of our Ewelme depot and provide occasional support at our other depots when required. This role would suit someone with a background in general building work, construction, or landscaping, where they enjoy variation. What You’ll Be Doing as a Maintenance Operative: Carry out general maintenance and upkeep of the depot yard, including minor repair work around the site and buildings (excluding electrical or major construction). Keep external areas clean, tidy and presentable this includes hedge cutting, weed control, and basic plant maintenance. Assist with loading/unloading bins onto delivery/collection vehicles when needed. Support occasional minor repairs at customer premises (e.g. post replacement or fencing). Act as a driver’s mate when required. In colder months, grit footpaths and walkways at the depot and head office (this may involve an earlier start). Ensure full compliance with health & safety and company policies. Take on other general tasks and occasional ad hoc projects as requested by your manager. What You’ll need: A practical, hands-on person with basic DIY skills and a good understanding of maintenance tools and equipment (hedge cutters, drills, lawn mowers, etc). Competent in general DIY e.g. changing pictures, fixing shelves, changing light bulbs / fluorescent tubes etc. Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions. Team player who’s also able to work independently and take initiative. Flexible and dependable, with a problem-solving mindset. Someone who takes pride in keeping their workplace clean, safe and in good order. Willingness to occasionally travel to other sites as needed and flexible to work outside of standard working hours to ensure a smooth and secure operation.
