The Planning, Training and Apprenticeship Support Officer works within the Office of the Traffic Commissioner (OTC). This role is part of the OTC Planning, Training and Apprenticeship Support Team and will focus on attracting, retaining, and developing staff through recruitment, selection, and training initiatives.
The post holder will collaborate closely with DVSA Resourcing, Training, and Apprenticeship Specialists in the People Directorate to offer development opportunities for OTC staff. Joining our department offers many benefits, including:

In this role, you will ensure new colleagues are onboarded promptly and provided with high-quality induction and training programs. You will support mandated training completion, apprenticeship schemes, and ongoing staff development to nurture talent within the OTC.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Embedding a culture of continuous professional development to ensure colleagues possess the necessary knowledge, skills, and behaviors for excellent service.
2. Managing change effectively by communicating plans, conducting impact analyses, and updating activities regularly.
3. Collaborating with managers and the People Directorate Recruitment Policy team to develop a robust, future-oriented attraction strategy for OTC employment.
4. Ensuring recruitment activities adhere to Civil Service principles of open and fair competition, including accurate merit list compilation.
5. Providing management information to evaluate recruitment outcomes and identify improvement actions.
6. Working with the Standards and Quality Team to ensure all colleagues complete mandated or bite-sized training and that records are maintained.
7. Providing guidance and materials to promote apprenticeships and support career conversations within OTC.
8. Collaborating with TCs/TR to maintain high-quality OTC functions.
