We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive individual to join the Pollution Inventory (PI) and Emissions team who form part of the Waste Industry and Regulation Service (WIRS), part of Climate Markets and Industry Regulation.

WIRS are committed to data excellence; we collate, evaluate, and use our technical expertise to interpret data, which is vital to informing regulation, enforcement, and legislation. Within this role, you'll have the opportunity to work closely with lead specialists in the team and support tasks which include data analysis and system maintenance. The role is ideal for those who want to grow their knowledge and understanding of data, skills of collating and managing data in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Successful candidates will:

Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Be well organised, and able to deliver work independently, parallel to others.

Provide accurate and timely responses to requests for information and technical enquiries via a shared mailbox

Provide excellent customer service to colleagues in other parts of the business and to external customers

Work as part of a team to deliver work within the required timescale and standards

As a member of WIRS, the successful candidate(s) will be expected to work in an agile way across the department to lend their skills to organisational priorities.

The team

The PI & Emissions are a friendly, dispersed team who carry out effective data management and QA and deliver evidence of releases and transfers of substances from regulated industrial activities, as well as data administration of the Emissions Monitoring, Managment and Analysis (EMMA) database.

The data evidences the UK compliance with various air quality agreements, as well as helping us to monitor our progress in meeting milestones and ambitions set out in our corporate plans.

Experience/skills required

Good data, information management and analysis skills.

A solid working knowledge of IT (Excel) is an essential.

Ability to support the coordination, collection and reporting of data.

Can identify & investigate problems

Be organised and able to work on your own initiative

Be comfortable working in a virtual team environment
