As a Commercial Category Assistant at Travis Perkins, you will play a vital role as the first point of contact for our branches and suppliers. You will support our Category Managers in ensuring we have the right range of products for our customers at the right gross margin profitability, securing maximum funding from our suppliers to support that range.
Location: You will be expected to travel to our Head Office in Duston, Northampton 1-2 times a week.
What you’ll do:
* Utilise your communication skills to ensure requests and queries from our branches are dealt with quickly and efficiently.
* Ensure accurate data is provided to help understand the trading performance of categories and customers.
* Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders on commercial projects.
* Maintain accurate product descriptions, images, prices, and data, focusing on customer needs.
Day to Day:
1. Responsible for the setup and maintenance of all products within a category.
2. Report on category performance using data tools to provide sales and performance information to category managers.
3. Understand competitors' offerings within the category.
4. Support category managers in delivering promotional and pricing plans.
5. Work with margins, calculate break-even points, and understand pricing elasticity to inform pricing decisions.
6. Build relationships with suppliers and communicate with account managers.
Who we’re looking for:
Being a graduate or seeking an entry-level opportunity, previous experience isn’t essential. We need you to be comfortable with numbers, data, and multitasking. Confidence in building relationships, working at pace, and a proactive attitude are key to becoming an integral part of our team.
