Role Responsibilities As the Art Technician, you will support both teachers and students in a variety of ways, including: Preparing materials and equipment for Art lessons across KS3–KS4, including paints, pastels, clay, canvas, printmaking supplies, textiles, digital resources, and mixed media. Assisting with the maintenance, organisation, and safe storage of art materials, ensuring all classrooms and studio spaces remain clean, well-presented, and ready for use. Supporting students during practical lessons, offering guidance with processes such as painting techniques, clay work, printmaking, digital editing, and portfolio preparation. Helping to curate and mount displays of student artwork around the school, maintaining high visual standards and ensuring work is presented with care and professionalism. Managing stock levels effectively, monitoring usage patterns, organising bulk orders, and keeping accurate inventory records. Ensuring all equipment is used safely and following departmental procedures—including cleaning tools, maintaining studio spaces, managing drying racks, monitoring sharp equipment, and preparing classrooms for the next teaching session. Assisting with GCSE coursework organisation, including sketchbook preparation, presentation advice, and ensuring materials are available during controlled assessment periods. Supporting the planning and execution of exhibitions, open evenings, enrichment days, or art events held by the school. Collaborating closely with the Head of Art and wider department to ensure smooth and effective delivery of the curriculum.
