Supplier Quality Engineer - £45,000 - Plus Bonus – Pension and corporate benefits
Melbreck Technical is working with a world-renowned designer and manufacturer of specialist aerospace and defence equipment based in Dorset.
Due to succession planning, they are looking to expand their quality team by hiring a Supplier Quality Engineer to join their business ASAP.
This role involves identifying process improvement and control opportunities within the entire supply chain, building strong supplier relationships, and enhancing working practices.
You will monitor, maintain, or improve supplier performance through KPI metrics, and collaborate with suppliers to develop corrective action plans addressing any process issues.
Supplier Quality Engineer - Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage supplier quality and process improvements.
2. Evaluate and process FAI reports from suppliers according to AS9102 standards, providing feedback and guidance.
3. Set and maintain PO notes.
4. Collect and analyze supplier quality data to review supplier performance.
5. Create and update documentation used within the supply chain.
6. Work directly with suppliers to create, manage, and close corrective action plans.
7. Conduct process and product audits within the supply chain to identify failures and perform regular audits.
8. Perform source inspections at supplier sites as needed.
9. Maintain supplier performance metrics.
10. Review and update Corrective Action Reports.
11. Visit suppliers regularly and assist in conducting supplier audits.
12. Participate in quality meetings and present on purchased part or product quality issues.
Supplier Quality Engineer - Experience and Skills Required:
1. Education: Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (preferred but not essential).
2. Experience: Proven experience in Quality Engineering within a manufacturing environment.
3. Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
4. Proficiency with measuring equipment to 0.01mm accuracy.
5. Knowledge of 8D, Lean, Six Sigma methodologies, process capability analysis, and process improvement.
6. Experience with internal audits.
