Main duties of the job
The Salaried GP role involves autonomous, high-quality patient care (consultations, managing long-term conditions, diagnostics, prescribing, care plans) within a GP practice setting, handling administrative tasks (referrals, prescriptions), participating in clinical governance (audits, meetings, quality improvement), and contributing to the practice team, adhering to GMC standards, data protection, and potentially undertaking visiting duties, all while focusing on patient needs, safety, and continuous professional development.

This multidisciplinary team comprising 5 GP Partners and 1 Salaried GP, 2 Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACPs) both can prescribe, 4 Nurses, 3 HCA's and 2 Pharmacists (via the PCN) all provide comprehensive care by assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients, supported by back-office staff who handle administration, document flow, and scheduling to boost efficiency, together with a dedicated Clinical Admin team who together with the nursing team ensure maximum QOF is achieved with no last minute rush of work.
Cedars Surgery faces the beach and sea, ideal for a lunch time stroll. Don't feel isolated in your clinic room day in and day out!! - we offer a daily coffee break for clinicians to catch up with each other and unwind for half hour.

Job responsibilities
The Salaried GP role involves autonomous, high-quality patient care, consultations, managing long-term conditions, diagnostics, prescribing, care plans, within a GP practice setting, handling administrative tasks, referrals, prescriptions, participating in clinical governance, audits, meetings, quality improvement, and contributing to the practice team, adhering to GMC standards, data protection, and potentially undertaking visiting duties, all while focusing on patient needs, safety, and continuous professional development.
The following are the core responsibilities of a Salaried GP. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffinglevels:
Core Responsibilities - Clinical
Patient Consultation: Deliver face-to-face, telephone, and video consultations to manage acute and chronic health conditions for a diverse patient caseload usually 24 patients a day covering your own patient list.
Diagnosis and Treatment: Make autonomous clinical decisions, including physical examinations, arranging investigations (e.g., blood tests, scans), and referring to secondary care or specialists.
Prescribing: Issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions in line with national and local practice formularies.
Home Visits: Conduct visits to patients' homes or care homes as part of the daily rota.
Screening and Prevention: Identify disease risk factors and early signs of illness through screening and health education.
Emergency Care: Participate in duty doctor/telephone triage.
Administrative and Quality Duties
Clinical Administration: Process lab results, hospital correspondence, Docman, and medical reports.
Clinical Records: Maintain clear, contemporaneous, confidential and accurate patient records using the Emis system.
Quality and Audit: Participate in clinical audits, Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) targets, and significant event reviews to improve patient care standards, clinical governance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Team Collaboration: Attend practice and clinical meetings and work within a multidisciplinary team including nurses, pharmacists and Advanced Care Practitioners.
Correspondence: Process and action patient and hospital correspondence, with access to a dedicated Cedars Secretarial team.
Training: Support medical students and contribute to practice development/training.
Qualifications and Professional Requirements
Essential: Fully qualified GP with General Medical Council (GMC) registration and inclusion on the NHS National Performers List.
Professional Standards: Adherence to GMC Good Medical Practice, confidentiality, and data protection.
Professional Indemnity: Valid membership with a recognised medical defence organisation.
Checks: Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) clearance.
Development: Commitment to annual appraisals and the five-yearly GMC revalidation process.
Reporting Structure Report to the Business Manager for organisational/admin issues and Partners for Clinical matters.
