Title:
Business Development Manager
The Role
Following a strategic refresh, Estates Intelligence has rebranded its client-facing services into a compelling market proposition. To drive future growth, we are seeking a Business Development Manager to identify new opportunities, lead framework and tender bids, strengthen key relationships, and secure new business.
KBR’s Estates Intelligence is a leading force in public sector FM Assurance, providing cutting-edge technical platforms and professional services. We support central government and specialist departmental estates in effectively managing their portfolios and supply chains.
Location
This role offers a hybrid working setup, combining office-based work at either our Leatherhead or Swindon location, regular client visits primarily in London, and the flexibility to work from home.
Key Responsibilities
* Identify and pursue business opportunities aligned with our BD strategy and priority sectors.
* Conduct market research and analyse trends to inform growth strategies.
* Initiate client engagement, understand their needs, and align solutions from the VIAverse service catalogue.
* Effectively communicate technical concepts and solutions to non-technical stakeholders, ensuring clarity and impact.
* Work closely with subject matter experts to develop tailored proposals.
* Oversee the transition of secured business opportunities to operational teams.
* Establish strong relationships with critical stakeholders, developing engagement methods and leads.
* Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on Estates Intelligence methodology and technology, effectively representing KBR externally.
* Leverage deep technical understanding to position Estates Intelligence offerings as market-leading solutions.
* Confidently engage in technical discussions, translating complex ideas into clear, compelling business cases that drive client adoption.
* Build and maintain a robust network across clients and partners, proactively identifying growth opportunities.
Reporting & Accountability
The Business Development Manager reports to the Real Estates Director and is responsible for:
* Developing the business development strategy, identifying markets, stakeholders, frameworks, and initiatives
* Establishing and nurturing a strong stakeholder network through personal connections and initiatives
* Providing insights into market trends and competitor activity within the FM Assurance sector
* Positioning KBR’s Estates Intelligence team ahead of tender opportunities and actively tracking leads
* Converting opportunities into successful contract wins and driving overall team growth
* Drafting compelling sales materials and supporting marketing efforts as needed
Technical Skills
* Business Development & Sales Strategy – Expertise in identifying and pursuing growth opportunities, crafting business strategies, and converting leads into successful contracts.
* Market Research & Data Analysis – Ability to conduct research, analyse trends, and interpret competitor activity to inform strategic decisions.
* Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Management – Strong networking skills to establish and nurture connections with key industry players and partners.
* Strong technological proficiency—someone who is technically minded and comfortable navigating digital tools and platforms, but not necessarily an IT specialist.
* Experience in facilities management, strategic asset planning, or estates management across diverse sectors would be advantageous.
What we Need
* Demonstrated success in driving business growth by effectively converting opportunities into measurable results.
* Proven ability to self-generate leads and identify new business opportunities.
* Experience conducting business development for technology-driven solutions.
