As an inclusive, forward-thinking business, we take pride in our approach to investing in our Training and Safety across Avara Foods and are looking for a highly competent and motivated Training, Compliance & Safety Officer to join our Agriculture Team based at our Tram Feed Mill, Allensmore, Herefordshire. As a Training, Compliance & Safety Officer you’ll be working Monday to Friday 08:00 – 16:30
What will you be doing as a Training, Compliance & Safety Officer at Avara?
As a Training, Compliance & Safety Officer you’ll be providing support and guidance to the management team to minimise/remove risk of accidents, work related-illnesses and injuries within the feed mill whilst maintaining high standards of health and safety in the workplace. You will ensure feed mill compliance to external regulatory requirements and internal policies and procedures. This role is responsible for identifying employee training and development needs and planning, organising, and overseeing appropriate training.
What will your key responsibilities as Training, Compliance & Safety include?
1. Establish and maintain a thorough risk assessment and task procedure management system.
2. Review and maintain existing operating procedures and practices to make recommendations for improvements where applicable.
3. Conduct Plant inspections in conjunction with the mill management team.
4. Ensure all accidents, incidents and near misses are reported through the Focus Safety App.
5. Support with incident and accident investigations.
6. Manage and facilitate external audits – Willis Blue, NFU, EA. Support management team in achieving audits in agreed frequencies.
7. Manage site hygiene standards.
8. Administration of Quality Control feed and hygiene samples / swabs and feed complaints.
9. Support with new employee onboarding and attend new employee probation reviews.
10. Conduct new and refresher respiratory face fit testing for employees (Training will be given).
11. Ensure records are maintained and training refreshers are undertaken in a timely fashion.
12. Design and deliver topic specific ‘tool box talks’.
13. Complete employee competency reviews annually.
14. Meet with other site safety, compliance and training officers regularly to share best practice, knowledge and experiences.
15. Attend operational meetings as requested.
What you’ll need to be successful:
16. Experience of working in agriculture/farming industry - Desirable
17. Internal auditing qualification - Desirable
18. IOSH qualification
19. Nebosh qualification
20. Knowledge of regulatory organisations & understanding the law – Desirable
21. Experience of delivering training - Essential Manual Handling Instructor qualification – Desirable
