We are seeking experienced and ambitious Assistant Engineering Managers (AEM / Workshop Managers) to join Arriva Wakefield on a full-time permanent basis.
As an Assistant Engineering Manager, your role involves assisting the Garage Engineering Manager in running an efficient workshop that meets targets set by TfL, Arriva London, and DVSA, ensuring service delivery, maintaining PVR requirements, operating within budget, and meeting KPI and regulatory standards.

Main Responsibilities

* Be the designated onsite person for depot security and ensure all team members adhere to safe working practices and environment standards.
* Work under the instructions of the Engineering Manager, undertake tasks as outlined in the Leader Standard Work document, and perform other duties as required.
* Lead and supervise the team to ensure efficient and safe servicing, maintenance, repair, overhaul, and cleaning of vehicles and components to specified standards.
* Identify, plan, and allocate workload to ensure it is balanced and timely. Liaise with Working Chargehands to maintain on-road engineering performance within targets, ensuring clear communication and data capture.
* Ensure team adherence to working instructions, health & safety regulations, quality procedures, and environmental systems.
Requirements
* A strong engineering background with proven experience in maintenance, repair, and overhaul of heavy vehicles, equipment, and/or machinery, preferably in the Bus/HGV industry.
* Recognized apprenticeship, vocational qualification, or a degree/diploma in engineering or vehicle maintenance.
* Good knowledge of Health & Safety, with leadership by example in adherence to policies and procedures (IOSH).
* Ability to lead and supervise a team to ensure a safe and effective working environment.
