Lecturer - Simulation and Clinical Skills
Full Time Equivalent: 1.0 (37 hours per week) – part‑time considered. Duration: Permanent. Salary: UH7 £38,784 pa (pro rata) to £46,049 pa (pro rata) with yearly increments. Annual leave: 35 days (pro rata) plus public holidays and 4 additional days. Location: College Lane Campus, University of Hertfordshire, Hatfield.
The School of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences at the University of Hertfordshire has a long established reputation as a centre of excellence in healthcare education. We seek a lecturer committed to delivering high‑quality, practice‑focused training for our nursing students, using simulation‑based education.
Responsibilities
* Support simulated practice learning in line with NMC Standards of Proficiency (2018) and Standards for Simulated Practice learning (2023).
* Deliver clinical skills and simulation teaching across the nursing curriculum, including design, planning and support of skills teaching, simulation scenarios, simulated practice learning and practical assessments.
* Participate in student recruitment, provide student support, and engage with pre‑registration nursing students, student nursing associates and qualified nurses.
* Collaborate with module teams to ensure an engaging, safe and contemporary learning experience in an evolving work environment.
Qualifications and Experience
* Minimum qualification: Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
* Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as a Registered Nurse.
* Teaching qualification is essential or willingness to undertake one.
* Broad specialist knowledge of contemporary nursing and healthcare practice, with familiarity of NMC Standards and simulation teaching.
* Proven experience in clinical skills (acute or community) applicable to all four nursing fields.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong written and verbal communication.
