Teaching Assistant – SEN School (KS1 to Post 16)

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school supporting pupils from KS1 through to Post 16. This is a highly rewarding role within a nurturing environment, where the focus is on creating a safe, structured, and supportive space so pupils can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
The Role:
• Support pupils with a range of SEN needs across KS1 to Post 16
• Work 1:1 and in small groups to support learning and engagement
• Deliver targeted interventions tailored to individual pupil needs
• Support pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural development
• Manage and support challenging behaviour using positive behaviour strategies
• Help create a safe, consistent, and inclusive learning environment
• Use communication tools such as PECS and Makaton to support understanding and expression
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and therapists
What We’re Looking For:
• Experience supporting children or young people with SEN in mainstream or specialist settings
• Confident working with challenging behaviour
• Experience using communication systems such as PECS and Makaton (essential)
• Ability to deliver or support targeted interventions
• Calm, patient, and resilient approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
