About the role
Balfour Beatty is seeking a Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) Advisor to join our Traction Systems Rail team in London. The position is based in Canary Wharf and involves coverage of various Rail sites mainly in London.
The HSW Advisor will support the delivery of the Zero Harm Action Plan, working with the HSW Manager to ensure compliance with the UK Business Management System (BMS) and HSW requirements.
What you'll be doing
* Support the implementation and review of the Balfour Beatty Rail HS&W Strategy and BBUK 8-Point Plan.
* Contribute to the Zero Harm and Sustainability Action Plans.
* Assist in delivering HS&W Key Performance Indicators at project level.
* Support work-winning teams as needed.
* Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses following group standards and BMS requirements.
* Conduct scheduled support visits to projects, providing advice and support.
* Produce reports on HS&W inspections and project performance via the Project Portal.
* Ensure environmental risks are managed appropriately.
* Promote principles of prevention and hierarchy of control.
* Deliver ongoing HS&W training as required.
* Support project-specific supply chain engagement strategies.
* Perform HS&W Champion roles and contribute to best practice research.
* Assist in developing HS&W case studies from signature projects.
Who we're looking for
The essential qualities/experience include:
* Relevant NEBOSH Diploma, NCRQ, NVQ Level 6, or equivalent qualifications.
* Ability to influence and promote a positive safety culture.
* Experience in incident investigation.
* Strong understanding of UK health and safety regulations and BMS.
* Ability to produce formal HS&W reports.
* Commitment to continuous learning and value addition.
* Experience in construction and civils projects.
* CSCS competence.
* Effective communication skills at all levels.
Desirable qualities include additional technical skills, GradIOSH membership, internal auditor qualification, knowledge of CDM 2015, and environmental qualifications.
