You will work autonomously within a multi-disciplinary team to lead the diabetes in pregnancy midwifery service and provide high-quality, safe, and compassionate individualised care, contributing to improving care, experience, and outcomes for those whose pregnancy is complicated by diabetes.

You should demonstrate an understanding of diabetes in pregnancy and a passion for supporting birthing people and their families to achieve optimal care and outcomes. The ideal candidate should be an exemplary leader with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a flexible approach, and a strong commitment to work.


Main duties of the job

* Provide high-quality, safe, and holistic midwifery care to pregnant individuals with diabetes.
* Manage, develop, and lead the Diabetes service for maternity service users, setting standards for midwifery practice.
* Offer expert clinical advice, training, and support related to monitoring and care within multidisciplinary teams.
* Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care programs for pregnant people with diabetes, working closely with obstetricians, endocrine consultants, and other stakeholders.
* Act as a role model and leader within the senior leadership and specialist midwifery teams.
* Oversee the specialist diabetes in pregnancy team, providing clinical knowledge, education, and training to healthcare staff and learners.
* Lead on audit activities, data collection, analysis, and development of guidelines and care pathways to promote best practice.


We are seeking a motivated and experienced NMC registered midwife to lead our Diabetes in Pregnancy service.
