SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator)

Location: Reading, Berkshire
Salary: MPS/UPS + SEN Allowance (dependent on experience)
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent
Start Date: September 2026 or sooner


Teaching Personnel are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming Primary School in Reading

Teaching Personnel is delighted to be working in partnership with a well-regarded primary school in Reading to recruit an experienced and dedicated SENCO. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate SEND professional to join a supportive leadership team and make a significant impact on the educational outcomes and wellbeing of pupils with additional needs.

The Role

As SENCO, you will take strategic responsibility for the leadership and development of SEND provision across the school. Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, teachers, support staff, parents, and external agencies, you will ensure that pupils with SEND receive the highest quality support and intervention.

Key responsibilities include:

* Leading and managing SEND provision throughout the school.
* Ensuring compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and relevant legislation.
* Coordinating and reviewing EHCPs, annual reviews, and SEND support plans.
* Monitoring pupil progress and evaluating the impact of interventions.
* Supporting and advising staff on inclusive teaching strategies and adaptive practice.
* Liaising effectively with parents, carers, local authorities, and external professionals.
* Promoting a culture of inclusion and high expectations for all learners.


The Ideal Candidate

The successful applicant will have:

* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
* National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) or a commitment to completing the qualification.
* Previous experience working as a SENCO or leading SEND provision within a primary school setting.
* Strong knowledge of current SEND legislation and best practice.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
* A child-centred approach and a genuine commitment to inclusive education.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
