ROLE SUMMARY Reporting directly to the Head of Design and Technical Services, you will provide technical contributions to all aspects of design and construction on McAvoys products and associated works. ROLE DESCRIPTION The successful candidate will be expected to support and contribute to the following activities: Produce concept designs, planning drawings and contractors proposals through to detailed construction drawings (Job sizes may vary from £200k to £30M). Adhere to the McAvoy drafting standards. Ensure all designs are in line with the cost budget as supplied by the Estimating department for each project worked on. Collaborate with Architects, Engineers, Clients and internally with Sales, Manufacturing and Contracts teams to ensure that the building is designed to meet customer requirements / specification. Issue and control all relevant contract/project drawings and information both electronic and paper copies. Produce material schedules for procurement (e.g., windows, doors and cladding). Produce U-value assessments/analysis to confirm that specification of building meets the required standard. Prepare and submit Planning and Building Control Applications including direct liaison with the building control/planning officers to resolve all arising issues. Communicate and work closely with all internal teams and external consultants to ensure the overall design is coordinated throughout the process including Structural, and all M&E services. Attend design, progress and client meetings, in the office and externally, in relation to projects being worked on. Attend site to check as built constructions against designs and produce snag lists on larger nominated projects. Attend regular factory walkarounds to review construction status and verify as built details meet with the design drawings produced. Carry out site visits as required to assist with measurement of existing site conditions and translate this information back into the main design. Assist with the preparation and presentation of new tender packages, including the provision of drawings & technical advice as required. Adhere to the CDM (Construction, Design & Management) regulations. Keep up to date with relevant regulations, codes and legislation. Work with the wider McAvoy Team to effectively represent and grow the business and contribute to the culture of innovation and continuous improvement. Promote and ensure a safe working environment, ensuring compliance with housekeeping rules and health and safety legislation. Carry out other duties that are consistent with the job holders knowledge and skills and are necessary for the satisfactory completion of contracts and to assist the company in achieving its goals and objectives. PERSON SPECIFICATION Essential Skills Possess a 3rd level qualification (e.g. BSc Architectural Technology, BSc Architecture, HND Building Studies or equivalent with complementary industry experience). Professional membership, e.g., CIAT, CIOB (desirable). Demonstrate practical architectural design/construction knowledge. Strong technical skills and knowledge with a high attention to detail; proficient in the use of the following software and stays up to date with software developments and updates: ArchiCAD (desirable) AutoCAD Revit Solibiri (desirable) Construction techniques and materials Knowledge of BIM (desirable). Candidates must have a detailed working knowledge of all current Building Regulations. Demonstrate leadership and a willingness to accept ownership of tasks.
