We are seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (1:1) to join our team at Philip Southcote School, part of Bourne Education Trust.

As this Higher Level Teaching Assistant position is linked to a named student, you will be responsible for providing highly effective, targeted provision and care to a student, in support of and under the guidance of Teachers and Senior Leaders. Ensuring the effective support of pupil welfare and the inclusion of all pupils in all aspects of school life in line with school and Trust policies, promoting the ethos and the values of the school and Bourne Education Trust.

About Philip Southcote School

Philip Southcote School is a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities School for students aged 11 to 19. As part of Bourne Education Trust (BET), a successful multi-academy trust comprising twenty-four schools across Surrey, Hampshire, and the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, we are committed to "Transforming schools...changing lives."

Philip Southcote Main School: A 3-Form Entry site for students aged 11 to 16 years.

Philip Southcote Sixth Form: For students age 16 to 19 years, this state of the art and newly opened site at The Meads is within walking distance from the main school.

Philip Southcote Satellite Centres: Our centres are based within mainstream secondary schools. Chertsey High School, Chertsey, Epsom and Ewell High School and Kings International School, Camberley.

Position: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (1:1)

Location: Southcote Centre, Epsom and Ewell High School

Contract: Term time, temporary - up to 2 years

Start Date: ASAP

Salary: Support Pay Scale 6.2 (£30,647 FTE; Actual salary: £24,975)

Hours: 35 hours per week, 38 per year

Key responsibilities include:

* Deliver 1:1 support throughout the school day in both specialist and mainstream settings
* Implement structured behavioural, communication and sensory strategies as directed by professionals
* Under the guidance of the responsible Teacher, facilitate the learning of individual pupils and groups, setting high expectations and promoting positive attitudes to learning

Requirements include:

Essential

* Ability to demonstrate an awareness, understanding and commitment to the protection and safeguarding of children
* GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent appropriate qualification)
* Ability to evidence effective continuous professional development

Desirable

* Relevant experience of working with children in an education setting
