VolkerStevin is hiring! Senior Quantity Surveyors, get in touch! Are you seeking your next challenge and interested in working on a prestigious project in Helensburgh? We want to hear from you. This role requires the ability to qualify for full Security Clearance.
Reporting to the Project Manager on site, the Senior Surveyor manages all commercial and contractual matters for their allocated site. You should be able to effectively lead surveyors and assistant surveyors to successfully deliver the project. On larger projects, you may be responsible for sections of the work, reporting to a Managing Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager.
Responsibilities Ensure effective cost management through regular forecasting and reporting.
Lead procurement processes to maximize profit and ensure timely subcontract orders in line with company policy.
Monitor and maximize cash flow.
Support and train team members on commercial matters.
Mentor surveyors within the project team.
Understand contractual requirements and advise the team accordingly.
Act in the company's best commercial interests.
Ensure professional conduct and uphold company standards.
Monitor and pursue main contract payments.
Construction Team Clarify roles and responsibilities related to commercial interests.
Develop and mentor junior staff.
Maintain effective communication within the team.
Attend and contribute to internal meetings.
Subcontract Management Procure subcontracts per policies.
Define scope and ensure comprehensive subcontract documentation.
Draft high-quality subcontracts covering responsibilities like quality, safety, and environmental standards.
Measure subcontractor work accurately.
Review subcontractor records and validate accounts.
Issue contractual notices as required.
Conduct timely subcontractor appraisals.
Authorize payments based on work quality and compliance.
Maintain accurate subcontractor liabilities and forecasts.
Ensure attendance and contra-charge records are up-to-date.
Candidate Requirements An accredited qualification from RICS, CIOB, or ICES, or a relevant degree with technical or numerical focus.
Experience as a Senior QS/QS.
Preferred A degree in Quantity Surveying and relevant experience.
