Offer description

Provide a highly efficient medicines management service to various wards within the Acute, Medicine, Care of the Elderly, and Women's and Children's departments.

Promote safe, efficient, and cost-effective use of medicines at ward level.

Support the expansion of the medicines management pharmacy technician service across the Trust.

Assist in the induction, training, supervision, and support of new pharmacy staff members.

Train healthcare staff on all aspects of medicines management at ward level.

Participate in medicines management audits.

Complete medicines reconciliations promptly to meet NICE guidelines.

Assess patients' own drugs (PODs) for suitability.

Order 'one stop dispensing' medications timely to support discharge schemes.

Perform final accuracy checks on clinically screened prescriptions for at least eight hours per month in dispensaries or satellite pharmacies to maintain ACPT competency.

Advise patients, representatives, and healthcare professionals on medication issues to optimize patient outcomes.

Provide technical support to satellite pharmacies and main dispensaries.

Maintain own Continuing Professional Development and training.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician to join our dynamic, innovative, and friendly team dedicated to improving ward-based clinical pharmacy services. We seek someone with experience and passion in hospital pharmacy, who is enthusiastic, motivated, patient-oriented, and committed to patient safety. You will collaborate with the medicines management team to implement and improve technical and clinical support to wards and satellite units.

You should possess excellent communication skills, enjoy working within a multidisciplinary team, and be friendly, approachable, adaptable, willing to learn new skills, and dedicated to continuous professional development. You must be a registered pharmacy technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council. This is a full-time position requiring participation in weekend and late duties as per rota.
