Grade: Level 6

Actual Salary: £17,158 - £18,613

Hours: 22.2 hours per week

Overview

This is a very exciting opportunity to support the Governor Support Manager with the delivery of the School Governor Support (SGS) Service with regard to the smooth and effective running of multiple school, academy and trust boards. The role also includes providing support to our team of dedicated SGS clerks as well as helping to deliver an information, advice and guidance helpline to governors, senior school leaders and Trust CEOs.


Responsibilities

* Deputising, as required, for the distribution and covering of clerking meetings.
* Oversight of the clerking team to ensure they are provided with required materials, information, guidance and training in advance of meetings taking place.
* Monitoring the timeliness, and quality assessing the content, of meeting minutes produced by clerks.
* Undertake the Clerks Development Programme through a DfE recognised licence-holder, and any other relevant training (subject to agreement).
* Clerk a minimum of six board meetings per term (a mix of daytime and evening meetings for additional remuneration‑subject to the terms of the Clerk to Governors contract) and have the flexibility to step in to provide cover if needed.
* Manage and maintain the dedicated SGS email box, ensuring that the work is allocated appropriately.
* Ensure action points within minutes are noted, discussed with appropriate LA Officers, and are then reported back as appropriate.
* Support and organise the co‑ordination of governor recruitment and reappointment activities in line with guidance/statutory legislation.
* Ensure that ICT systems and a dedicated governor database is accurately maintained.
