We’re looking for a DSEAR Technician to join our dedicated Process Safety team. Working under the guidance of the DSEAR Manager, you’ll support the safe operation of Anglian Water’s assets by delivering remedial work, assisting with risk assessments, and providing technical insight into compliance with the Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations (DSEAR).
This is a developmental role designed to prepare you for progression into a DSEAR Engineer position, giving you a solid foundation in hazardous area safety in one of the UK’s leading water utilities.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a DSEAR Technician, you’ll work closely with our DSEAR Engineers and site teams to help ensure full compliance across a broad range of operational assets. Your work will be critical in identifying and resolving low-complexity defects and supporting risk mitigation strategies across the business.
Your responsibilities will include:
Carrying out low-complexity remedial work to resolve DSEAR-related issues across electrical and mechanical assets
Supporting inspections at site and asset level to identify risk and ensure regulatory compliance
Assisting DSEAR Engineers in completing asset risk assessments and hazardous area classifications
Creating and maintaining accurate documentation for all completed work
Providing technical advice, coaching, and mentoring to operational teams
Promoting and upholding safety culture in line with Anglian Water’s behavioural safety principles
Participating in audits and encouraging best practices across the business
About You
You’ll bring a solid foundation in electrical systems and a keen interest in hazardous area safety. You’re methodical, detail-oriented, and ready to expand your knowledge in a fast-paced environment where your work directly impacts safety and compliance.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
Fully qualified electrician (ONC/OND/NVQ3 or equivalent)
CompEX 01-04 or 09-10 certification (or willingness to work towards)
Strong understanding of DSEAR principles and hazardous area documentation
Experience working in hazardous environments (minimum 1 year)
Excellent communication and report writing skills
Ability to plan and prioritise workload independently
Confidence using Microsoft Office tools to document and present technical information
A strong sense of responsibility and a commitment to safe working practices
