Job Title: Rights Executive Working Hours: 35 hours per week with hybrid working and flexible shift patterns available between 08:00 18:00, Monday-Friday. Purpose: The Rights Executive will work as part of a team engaged in resolving competing registrations of rights with audio-visual collection societies. The role will require liaising with clients and collection societies; managing internal and external rights databases; reviewing chain of title documentation and determining rights positions; submitting evidence to collection societies; potentially negotiating settlements. Key Responsibilities: Completing Claim Resolutions Corresponding and liaising with clients, third parties and international collection societies concerning competing rights registrations. Reviewing legal documentation. Negotiating solutions and settlements with the aim of resolving competing claims and releasing blocked funds. Collection Society Submissions Working to society deadlines and following societys conflict resolution procedures and protocols. Researching and writing legal summaries of the clients chain of title to substantiate their claim. Submitting legal documentation and summaries to the collection societies as required. Ad hoc work with general counsel and revenue assurance team with submissions for societies for claims and other rights checks. Database and Data Management Helping to ensure the Companys internal rights database is accurate. Updating and monitoring the collection societies online databases [training provided]. Reporting and tracking your progress for the wider team. The above list is not in priority order, nor is it exhaustive. PERSON SPECIFICATION: RIGHTS EXECUTIVE Essential Desirable Experience / Background An interest in the film, media and entertainment industry An interest in audio / video copyright Legal work experience (particularly in copyright, intellectual property, audio / visual rights or music publishing) Knowledge/Skills Research skills Decision making skills Analytical/problem solving abilities GCSE English and Maths, Grade C or equivalent qualifications Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel (spreadsheets) Experience in working with databases Competencies/Behaviours Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Professionalism Ability to work to deadlines Ability to work independently, under own initiative, as well as part of a team.
