Overview
Classroom Lead – Prospero Teaching is looking for confident and adaptable individuals to join secondary schools across Southampton as Classroom Leads. In this role, you will guide classes during teacher absence, deliver pre-planned lesson material, and help maintain a positive and focused learning environment. This is a fantastic opportunity for people who enjoy working with young learners and want hands-on classroom experience. Responsibilities
* Lead lessons using the work already prepared by the class teacher
* Supervise classes independently and promote positive behaviour
* Support students with tasks, questions, and staying engaged
* Provide cover for a variety of subjects across KS3 and KS4
* Maintain a calm, structured, and supportive classroom atmosphere
* Follow school safeguarding and behaviour policies
Ideal Candidate
* Experience working with young people (youth work, coaching, tutoring, mentoring, schools)
* Confident managing a classroom and leading groups
* Clear communicator with a positive and proactive approach
* Adaptable and comfortable stepping into different subjects
* Organised, reliable, and calm under pressure
* Graduates or aspiring teachers welcomed
Contract Details
* Position: Classroom Lead / Cover Mentor
* Location: Southampton
* Start: ASAP
* Work Pattern: Full-time, part-time or day-to-day
* Pay: Up to GBP130 per day
* Age Groups: KS3 & KS4
Experience, Training & Safeguarding
* Experience supporting young people required
* Classroom or behaviour experience beneficial
* Safeguarding training available if needed
Eligibility
* Right to work in the UK
* Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
* Two references covering experience with young people
