Job Description
Life Science at TTP
TTP’s Life Science team is transforming healthcare. At the intersection of biology, engineering and physical science we invent, design and build breakthrough technologies across drug discovery, cell therapy, point of care diagnostics, molecular detection, DNA sequencing and cancer screening.
Our multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers and designers collaborate to tackle ambitious challenges set by global market leaders and pioneering technology start ups – turning bold ideas into world-changing products.
We have a wide reach within life science technology development. We’re making huge strides in automating chemistry and biology to accelerate drug discovery and development so life-changing medicines can reach people faster. We’re also changing how cell therapies and personalised medicines are manufactured, making them more affordable and accessible to patients. We have a proven track record in delivering cutting-edge diagnostic solutions, pushing the boundaries of PCR instruments.
The role
We’re looking for someone to join our collaborative team to design and develop a diverse range of instruments and consumables. We have roles available in our Diagnostics and Drug Discovery Teams, but you'll have the opportunity to work on projects across all of Life Science.
As a mechanical design engineer at TTP you'll play a key role in concept development and evolution of detailed design solutions using CAD. You'll be able to challenge your technical knowledge following very precise mechanical requirements for complex electromechanical instruments. Often working on multiple projects simultaneously, you'll be trusted to manage your own time to deliver your design work to client timelines.
You'll be an experienced mechanical designer with excellent design capabilities, a wider understanding of the electromechanical considerations of product development and an innovative approach to problem solving.
If you're a design engineer who thrives in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment, enjoys tackling complex challenges and approaches design with precision and creativity, then we’re looking for you.
Qualifications
We’re seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with:
* Highly proficient in 3D CAD (ideally including SolidWorks and OnShape would be an advantage)
* Familiarity with assembly jigs and test equipment
* Experience using ideation methods (ideally including mind-mapping, brainstorming, functional analysis, and/or morphological analysis)
* Ability to present ideas through sketches, animations, photorealistic renderings and rapid prototyping
* Knowledge of a wide range of manufacturing techniques
* Ability to perform tolerance analysis on parts and assemblies
* Experience of sourcing off-the-shelf and custom parts and building relationships with and managing suppliers
* Excellent time management skills and ability to balance priorities of multiple projects
* Hands-on ability to build, test and troubleshoot
* Experience contributing to dFMEA and/or pFMEA documents would be an advantage
* Ability to design plastic injection moulded parts would be an advantage
This role will be a full-time, onsite position.
