Job overview

We have an exciting secondment opportunity for a band 6, Clinical Educator role, within our Professional Development and Education Team.

This role is for a fixed period of 1 year. We would like to recruit a dynamic individual to join the existing clinical educator team; this role will be aimed to support and develop our Nursing and Health Care workforce, within inpatient areas.The successful candidate will have relevant ward experience andcomprehensive nursing skills and knowledge. Their duties will include, working alongside our new nurses, to help them integrate onto the ward, acting as a role model at all times.

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual that displays all the trust values in a professional manner. This individual will strive to lead by example to ensure a high standard of care is provided for all our patients. It is important that the individual has a kind, caring and understanding manner to complement their outstanding communication, organisational and interpersonal skills. These abilities are paramount in this role to allow clear direction and understanding of the holistic nursing approach we need to deliver.

Main duties of the job

As part of the Clinical Education team you will be expected to support our nursing workforce across the trust by working alongside our staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and competencies to allow them to perform their role to its full potential

There will be opportunities to provide structured teaching sessions within the role, teaching experience is not necessary as support will be provided. The successful candidate should have a passion for teaching and be able to provide constructive encouragement and support to staff. It would be beneficial to have some experience of working on acute wards and it is essential they hold a recognised assessor’s qualification.

The role will involve cross site travelling, to ensure we provide support at both York and Scarborough.

Experience & Knowledge Required

Essential criteria

8. At least 18 months post registration experience in an acute setting
9. Working with a wide range of professionals
10. Awareness of current issues in health care
11. Standards of Professional Practice

Desirable criteria

12. Teaching Qualification
13. Previous experience of delivering clinical training or support e.g. Link Trainer/Nurse
14. Proven skills in using simulation as a teaching tool
15. Able to educate both formally and informally

Education, Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria

16. Registered Nurse, Registered with the NMC
17. Recognised teaching certificate or equivalent experience

18. Ability to work as a team
19. Evidence of sound written and verbal communication skills
