The Opportunity
This is a unique opportunity to join a groundbreaking hydro-electric power scheme at a pivotal stage of delivery, supporting a major infrastructure project that will contribute to the UK’s long-term renewable energy strategy. Due to continued project expansion and workforce growth, our client is seeking an experienced HR Manager to lead and deliver a comprehensive people strategy on-site. Working within a high-performing, multidisciplinary environment, you will play a key role in supporting operational teams, shaping workforce culture, and ensuring best-in-class HR practices across a complex joint venture setting. This role offers the chance to influence senior leadership, drive people-focused initiatives, and embed a strong, consistent HR framework across a major construction programme.

Your duties and responsibilities will be
Provide a proactive and comprehensive HR advisory and administration service to project teams
Act as the primary point of contact for HR-related queries, resolving issues effectively and efficiently
Advise, influence, and support managers on HR best practice, employee relations, and people management
Build strong, credible relationships with managers, acting as a trusted HR partner
Manage complex employee relations cases including disciplinary, grievance, redundancy, and exits
Monitor and analyse employee relations trends, implementing appropriate interventions
Support absence management processes, working closely with Occupational Health where required
Guide and support managers in the consistent application of HR policies and procedures
Ensure compliance with employment law and maintain up-to-date HR knowledge
Conduct exit interviews and analyse data to inform workforce strategies
Support recruitment activity during peak periods or absences
Contribute to a positive workplace culture and promote company values across the project
You will have the following qualifications & experience:
Demonstrable experience in a HR Manager or Senior HR Advisor role within a project or operational environment
Strong employee relations experience, including case management and advisory
Sound knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
Proven ability to influence and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels
Experience working in fast-paced, complex or multi-site environments
Strong communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills
It’s great if you also have the following
Experience within construction, infrastructure, engineering, or energy sectors
Experience working within joint ventures or large project environments
CIPD qualification (or working towards)
Experience supporting high-volume or project-based recruitment
Exposure to Occupational Health coordination and absence management strategies
Track record of supporting cultural and organisational change initiatives
The setting for the role
This role will be based on-site within a major hydro-electric project in the Scottish Highlands, supporting a diverse workforce across multiple disciplines. It requires a visible, hands-on approach, working closely with operational teams, leadership, and joint venture partners to deliver a consistent and effective HR service in a dynamic project environment.
