Mechanical Maintenance Technician

* Type: 12-Month Contract (Likely to Extend)
* Salary: £34.40 per hour
* Hours: Mon–Thurs 08:00–16:30, Fri 08:00–13:00 (flexible start/finish times), including a 9-day fortnight schedule
The Opportunity
Join a multi-disciplinary maintenance team providing expertise across mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems. Engage in reactive breakdown support, planned preventative maintenance, and facility upgrades impacting engine testing and development.
Responsibilities
* Respond to equipment breakdowns, fault-finding, and repairs
* Maintain, repair, and install facility equipment and support systems
* Work from mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical drawings and schematics
* Support commissioning of new rigs, systems, and test cells
* Lead improvement projects and root cause investigations, presenting findings to engineers and managers
* Mentor apprentices and promote knowledge sharing
* Maintain a safe, clean, and efficient work environment in line with health & safety and 5S standards
Candidate Requirements
* NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience, with an apprenticeship or strong industry background
* Knowledge of maintenance processes, tools, and equipment
* Ability to interpret mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical drawings
* Over 10 years of industrial maintenance experience, including apprenticeship
* Fault finding on hydraulic or fuel systems
* Laser alignment of rotating equipment
* Boiler servicing accreditation
* Experience with facility test cells, engine testing, or plant maintenance
* Backgrounds from manufacturing or food industry maintenance considered
