About the role
We are seeking a highly motivated researcher to join a dynamic, interdisciplinary team which integrates epidemiology, modelling and health economics techniques to inform policy decisions about viral hepatitis elimination.
The post-holder will join the Viral Hepatitis Applied Epidemiology Group within the School of Public Health at Imperial College London. This group has developed HBV transmission models which have addressed key policy-relevant questions - at both global and country levels.
The group also lead or collaborate on pivotal HBV clinical effectiveness and implementation studies in African settings, which will provide novel real-world data to ground modelling estimates. The group is part of the WHO-Collaborating Centre and works in close partnership with other international research groups, consortia and funding bodies including VIMC, COR-HEPB, PROLIFICA research group, University of Addis Ababa and the MRC Unit in The Gambia.
What you would be doing
The post-holder will combine expertise in data analytics, mathematical modelling and infectious disease epidemiology. They will contribute to a portfolio of high-impact translational research addresses how hepatitis-B prevention and treatment interventions can be scaled-up in impactful, cost-effective and equitable ways in high burden settings.
What we are looking for
* PhD in mathematical modelling, statistics, infectious disease epidemiology or related subject or a similar quantitative discipline.
* Experience in the development of mathematical simulation models (especially those used in epidemiology and public health as inputs to policy development).
* Familiarity with the fields of mathematical modelling, and/or statistics, and/or demography, and/or health economics.
* Knowledge of infectious disease epidemiology, particularly in LMICs.
* Knowledge or familiarity with health economics.

This role is for a full-time, fixed term contract for 12 months in the first instance, with a potential to be extended.
