We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated Senior Legal Counsel to support our international RWE Offshore Wind business.
As a Senior Legal Counsel in the Construction & Procurement Law Department, you will collaborate with the RWE Offshore Wind Legal Team and other departments to deliver comprehensive legal support globally.
Your expertise in Maritime Law will be essential in supporting RWE’s offshore projects worldwide, serving as the primary legal contact for maritime law matters.
About the role
* Provide legal advice on complex international construction projects, focusing on Maritime Law.
* Draft, negotiate, and develop maritime law-related contracts across the project lifecycle, including BIMCO charter parties, vessel agreements, bunkering, and transport contracts.
* Coordinate specialized legal advice, manage legal risks, and serve as the first point of contact for maritime legal issues.
* Oversee legal aspects related to maritime issues, advise senior management on risks, claims, and disputes.
* Lead standardization and process improvements, and develop tailored solutions for complex challenges.
* Build effective cross-functional relationships and provide legal and contractual training within the organization.
Job requirements and experience
* Collaborative, positive, and solution-focused mindset.
* Fully qualified lawyer with advanced maritime law expertise and additional qualifications (e.g., PhD, LL.M).
* Extensive experience in maritime law, preferably in law firms or corporate legal departments dealing with shipping.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to change.
* Strong commercial and technical understanding of large industrial projects.
* Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
* Engaged team player capable of working independently and cross-functionally.
* Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus; willingness to travel.
