An exciting opportunity has arisen at Oaklands for a Curriculum Team Leader – ESOL & Employability to provide outstanding, innovative leadership and teaching that supports learners and staff in achieving excellence across the ESOL and Employability provision.

We are seeking a visionary Curriculum Team Leader to play a vital role in our journey.
Your Day to Day Impact
* To contribute to a culture of high expectations to support aspirations and success for staff and students.
* To ensure that the curriculum is appropriate to the needs of students and takes account of best practice and national developments.
* To monitor and enhance the quality of provision to ensure that students achieve their learning outcomes and progress to further training or employment.
* To develop innovative approaches to curriculum delivery to improve access to learning and widen participation.
* To develop and implement procedures that ensures consistency and rigour in student assessment and tracking.
* To ensure that challenging targets are achieved for recruitment, retention and achievement.
* To assist with the timetabling and deployment of staff to support the student journey.
* To lead Course Team meetings and contribute to Department Area meetings.
* To participate fully in the marketing of courses and promotional events both on and off site.
* Work closely with the Employability, ESOL & Adult Manager to track and monitor all students using key reports within the pro-suite.
* Support the Employability, ESOL & Adult Manager to ensure the effective implementation of relevant college strategies.
* Work closely with the Employability, ESOL & Adult Manager, with the smooth running of the ESOL & Employability Department, and sharing of resources including staffing.
Teaching and Related Activities
* To teach and manage learning and assessment activities, undertaking the full range of duties of a Lecturer.
* Undertake associated organisational/administrative work, together with preparation and marking associated with timetabled work.
* To teach on all college premises or off site. Undertake student recruitment, induction, tutorial work, associated outreach work, residential, open and distance learning work and student placements.
* Act as a mentor to others involved in teaching, learning and assessment.
Curriculum Development
* Facilitate and support curriculum change to meet the needs of individual students, employers/industry and local community.
* To contribute to the development, planning and implementation of new initiatives within the curriculum area.
* Through course teams, plan, develop, monitor and evaluate courses and course materials and supervise course provision.
Quality
* Contribute to the management of progress weeks and Student Review Boards.
* Contribute to course reviews including reviews of subject area and the setting, implementation and monitoring of action plans.
* Work with relevant curriculum teams to facilitate and support strategies to raise retention and achievements of students.
* Contribute to the quality assurance processes, to ensure compliance with internal and external expectations such as internal verification, external awarding bodies regulations and verifiers, with timely actions put in place that are reviewed as required.
* Have up to date and relevant knowledge of current specifications and that any planned changes and delivery and assessment is accommodated and communicated within your team’s planning.
* Promote proactive course management, including the application of ILT and use of the Pro-suite.
* Be a member of appropriate curriculum area and cross college curriculum forums.
Leadership, Management & Administration
* To be part of the curriculum leadership team.
* To be responsible for the leadership of the curriculum team, ensuring that learner interviews, enrolments and examination entries are carried out effectively.
* Participate in the organisational and administrative work of the appropriate course team(s).
Management Information System
* In collaboration with course team colleagues, other appropriate staff and MIS, ensure that accurate, complete and up-to-date data is input onto the corporate database and other information storage and retrieval systems.
* Comply with the Data Protection Act (GDPR).
Performance Management & Professional Development
* Participate in the appraisal scheme. Undertake in-service training based on an agreed assessment of individual and business needs.
* To be responsible for conducting appraisal interviews for members in the curriculum team as identified by the Employability, ESOL & Adult Manager.
* Undertake lesson observation and learning walks of members in the curriculum team and provide constructive and developmental feedback.
* Act as a teaching and learning mentor to colleagues, especially those new to teaching and those in areas with developmental inspection grades.
* Work with individual lecturers to facilitate and support the improvement of standards, teaching, learning and assessment.

* Comply with health and safety legislation and Directives. Co-operate fully with the Health & Safety Manager.

* Undertake such duties and/or hours of work as may reasonably be required of you, commensurate with your pay band and general level of responsibility, at your main place of work or at any other establishments for which the college provides services.
* Undertake relevant continuous professional development and update CV accordingly on an annual basis.
* In consultation with the post holder it is liable to variation by the Principal to reflect or anticipate changes in or to the post and the organisation.

Is This You?
* A recognised teaching qualification (Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training or equivalent)
* Subject specialist qualifications relevant to ESOL and Employability
* Experience in curriculum leadership, quality assurance, and learner progress tracking
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to mentor and support teaching staff
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities across campuses
* A proactive, solution-focused mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement
* Knowledge of ESOL qualifications, government skills need subjects, and experience with external partners is an advantage
* Assessor and IQA qualifications are desirable
You should be proficient in Microsoft Office and capable of managing data systems effectively. Previous experience in leading curriculum teams and supporting staff development is essential, along with a commitment to providing a high-quality student experience.
