We’re currently recruiting 2–3 dependable and resilient individuals to join Royal Mail’s Central Postal Control (CPC) team, a critical support centre that monitors and responds to incidents affecting the national delivery of mail.
Whether it’s severe weather, vehicle breakdowns, or other unexpected disruptions, you’ll be on the front line, ensuring quick, clear communication and practical coordination to minimise service impact.
Job Duties
This is a full-on, fast-paced call centre environment, ideal for those who can stay calm under pressure, think quickly, and communicate clearly. Your duties will include:
1. Handling and responding to real-time incidents affecting mail delivery (e.g. truck breakdowns, fatalities, weather events)
2. Communicating with internal and external teams
3. Logging, reporting, and escalating issues when needed
4. Using IT systems and hardware (full training provided)
5. Listening in on live calls during training to learn on the job
6. Working closely with a small, supportive team and a present manager
Successful Candidates
We’re after calm, level-headed individuals with a natural ability to handle difficult situations and communicate effectively.
Ideal candidates will have:
7. Strong administration and IT skills
8. Confidence in telephone-based communication
9. A team player mindset with willingness to share knowledge
10. Experience in crisis management, logistics or similar (preferred)
11. A cool, empathetic and professional approach under pressure

Shifts
15. Monday to Friday working days, with occasional Saturday shifts needed too
16. Late shift (2pm – 10pm) and Night shift (10pm – 6am)
17. Must be flexible to cover either shift in the event of team absences/holidays
Pay Rate, Duration & Other Information
18. £19.23 per hour
19. Temporary, Ongoing role
20. Based in Farringdon (EC1 1AA) – Close to King’s Cross Station, Euston and on the Elizabeth Line
21. Full training on systems, processes and equipment
