Senior Electrical Design Engineer
We have a career opportunity for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer within our Engineering Design department.
This team is responsible for designing and developing new diagnostics platforms, automating systems, and continuously improving our products and services across Laboratory automation, MultiSTAT development (Analyser), and researching new technologies for Analyser design to support our customers across various industries.
Location: Randox Science Park, 30 Randalstown Rd, Antrim BT41 4FL.
Contract Offered: Full-time, Permanent.
Working Hours / Shifts: 40 hours over four days per week or 8:40-5:20 Mon-Fri.
Role Responsibilities
* Develop design concepts based on User Requirements.
* Contribute to the development of Functional Requirements Specifications based on User Requirements and approved concept designs.
* Work within a multi-disciplinary team, clearly communicate requirements to ensure coordinated development and testing.
* Apply knowledge of Electronic, Electrical, RF, Analogue, and Digital design for system components' design, assembly, integration, and prototyping.
* Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and scientists for testing, verification, and validation.
* Identify suitable COTS products/software for system use.
* Liaise with external design/manufacturing companies on specifications and project progress.
* Generate and maintain technical documentation: specifications, design drawings, calculations, work instructions, FMEA, BOM, etc.
* Conduct, review, and revise FMEA.
* Participate in risk/hazard analysis for products.
* Report project/status updates to management.
* Contribute to design changes in products, ensuring controlled management.
* Ensure all systems meet quality, internal procedures, and external standards.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
* Degree in electrical or electronic engineering or relevant experience.
* At least 5 years of industrial experience in electronics design (analogue and digital).
* Proven experience in electronic design.
* Willingness to learn and explore new technologies.
* Proficiency in schematic capture tools.
Desirable Skills
* Knowledge of ISO 13485, EN14971, EN61010, or FDA guidance for medical devices.
* Experience with CE product marketing, technical file creation, or global regulatory compliance.
* Understanding of design for manufacturing principles.
* Knowledge of ISO standards and FDA guidance for medical devices.
* Understanding of IPC standards for cables or PCBs.
