Overview
This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must already hold the right to work in the UK independently, with a visa or immigration status that allows them to fulfil the full duration and type of contract offered. The Trust is unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.
This role welcomes applications from newly qualified nurses as well as those with relevant experience. Walnut is a SCU with 22 cots, three of which are designated as high dependency and four as transitional care. Our birth rate is rising and approaching 5000 deliveries per year.
We are in the process of working with commissioning to meet NCCR actions and become an LNU in line with our activity. We are looking to elevate our QIS workforce and are seeking neonatal experienced Band 5 nurses who have neonatal QIS, or who have the experience and qualifications to go through a supported QIS training programme. You will be well supported in your role by a senior nursing team of clinically based Band 7 Senior Sisters and a Practice Development Nurse. We also have senior nurses working in research, infant feeding, FI care and governance. The service is supported by eighteen Paediatric Consultants, with two taking the lead for the Neonatal Unit, and a leading Neonatal Outreach service.
The post holder is responsible for the evidence-based assessment of care needs, the development of programmes of care, and the implementation and evaluation of those programmes of care. The post holder will carry out all relevant forms of care without supervision, and assist with training, supervision and mentorship of qualified and unqualified staff under the guidance of senior colleagues. The post holder will need to communicate effectively with and work alongside all members of the multi-professional team, children and their families to promote and support the evidence-based development of nursing practice. Work in partnership with Ward sisters and Charge Nurses of each area, Senior Nurse and General Manager to facilitate practice development.
