We're on the hunt for a seasoned PR Account Director to join the Pic PR team – someone who knows their way around press and the wider media landscape, campaigns, strategy and client needs. And someone who'll basically keep things running smoothly while juggling plenty of moving parts.
At Pic PR we're very much PR-led in our thinking (clues in the name), but we do offer other services – predominantly video, photography and a bit of design – which will need account managing as part of the role.
These are mainly supplementary to our PR needs though, playing into our campaigns, so a strong nose for a news hook is a must.
Think of yourself as a cheerful spider (unless you're an arachnophobe, then maybe not) at the centre of our client account web, keeping an eye on every strand – from press outreach and creative campaigns to imagery, video and any design or social support. When a fly lands (or in our case, a media op or client need), you'll be first to pounce and make sure it's dealt with.
Arachnid analogies aside though, you'll be the main point of contact for your clients – leading on their PR strategy, building trusted relationships and making sure the work we deliver is creative, effective, measurable and meets their needs. You'll help set the direction for campaigns and keep things on track, while also being that reassuring voice across the day-to-day or when challenges come up.
At Pic PR we work in Pods – small, collaborative teams led by an Account Director, with two other team members reporting in. You'll be heading up your Pod, taking ownership of client relationships and strategy, while guiding and supporting your colleagues to deliver brilliant work that's aligned with client thinking.
Essentially, we're after someone who's uber organised and tenacious but with a winning way with both clients and colleagues.
What you'll be doing
* Leading PR strategy and direction for your clients, shaping campaigns that make an impact.
* Heading up your Pod, mentoring and supporting your team to deliver their best work
* Overseeing (and sometimes writing) standout copy – whether it's a press release, pitch, op-ed or award entry. By and large, this will be the team supporting you doing the writing – but sometimes we all need to muck in.
* Creating and running creative PR campaigns that are both results-driven and strategically sound. We all chip in with creativity, so don't feel the pressure to be the creative spark – but you'll help ensure they get over the line and done.
* Building and maintaining strong relationships – a mix of clients, colleagues, media and influencers here. If you're a social butterfly who's great at keeping people on side, then you'll be ideal.
* Being the trusted advisor to clients, balancing ambition with realistic delivery. Whilst we like to shoot for the stars, we don't always have an actual rocket to fly in.
* Delegating tasks clearly and confidently, across teams – whether that's in your pod or the wider agency.
* Tracking PR performance and reporting on results in a way that shows real value.
* Keeping on top of client budgets, ensuring we're delivering the right level of service without overspend or overservicing.
* Contributing to new business pitches and presentations where needed.
* Collaborating with our video, design and photography teams to create integrated campaigns.
* Providing calm and capable crisis comms support if and when things get sticky.
What we're looking for from you
* Excellent understanding of press relations, digital PR, creative campaigns and media strategy
* Strong organisational skills – basically, the human version of Trello (although we use, tbf – it just sounded better).
* Around 8-10 years in PR (agency or in-house, but agency is ideal), but if you're a genuine talent then age (in the game) is but a number – so don't let a lack of years put you off from applying.
* A willingness to embrace new tech and a changing media landscape. AI is everywhere these days, and we all need to roll with the times – so we want you to be forward-thinking and digitally savvy to make sure we stay ahead or at least up with the curve.
Desired skills & experience
* First-class writing skills. Whilst the wider pod will help shape written materials, you do need to be a decent level yourself to spot what works and what doesn't.
* Confidence in presenting ideas – not just slides, but the story behind them and why they fit.
* A creative thinker with a love for PR stunts and clever angles. We all contribute to this side of things, so if you have great campaign ideas, we love to hear them.
* A calm head under pressure – if you like to fall to your knees and wail at the sky in despair when a story doesn't land, then you might be a tad dramatic for our preference.
* A solid grasp of digital comms – from online coverage to influencer campaigns, AI tools and beyond, you need to be willing to embrace the latest innovations.
* A team player who enjoys pulling people together to get great work done.
* A positive, upbeat outlook – we love a bit of self-depreciation but no doom and gloom, please.
* A sense of humour – we don't like to take ourselves too seriously.
