Job Advert Breastfeeding support Midwife (Band 6)
The Department of Public Health and Health Policy aims to improve and protect the health of people in Lothian as part of a whole system approach to public health in Scotland.
The post-holders will work with a project team within Maternal and Infant Nutrition (MIN) which is hosted in Public Health and Health Policy. The Maternal and Infant Nutrition team currently works with frontline staff across Neonatal, Maternity, Family Nursing and Health Visiting services to enhance their skills and knowledge around infant feeding.
The award nominated Delivering Early Breastfeeding Support (DEBS) project are expanding the project across NHS Lothian. This project has successfully reduced the breastfeeding drop off at 6-8 weeks by providing breastfeeding support in the ante-natal and early post natal period across West Lothian. We are now looking for enthusiastic and knowledgable midwives or nurses to use quality improvement methodology to replicate the project across new areas in East Lothian, Midlothian and the City of Edinburgh.
Post: Project Midwife/Nurse – Delivering Early Breastfeeding Support (Band 6)
Tenure: 2 Posts: 37hrs fixed term 3 years
2 Posts: 26hrs fixed term 3 years
Each post will be required to work one Saturday for 4 hours every 4 weeks
The project team will be working within the RIE and community sites across Edinburgh, East Lothian, Midlothian so must be able to travel as required.
To support the expansion of our project, we are looking for additional support within the original team.
Post: Project Midwife/Nurse – Delivering Early Breastfeeding Support -West Lothian (Band 6)
Tenure: 1 Post: 37.5hrs fixed term 3 years (This post will be required to work an occasional Saturday for 4 hrs to cover leave)
This post will be based at Stoneyburn Health Centre and work across St John’s hospital and community sites in West Lothian.
