Engineering Planner / QA Lead
Our client is a precision engineering company, designing and manufacturing parts and equipment for the Aerospace and Motorsport industries. In line with continued growth, we are seeking to appoint a suitably experienced person for the above post.
The successful applicant will liaise with the Directors concerning departmental matters and be capable of senior-level problem solving within an engineering environment.
Essential Skills
Full understanding of engineering drawings, including materials, treatments, assembly, and geometric tolerances.
Good communication skills.
Experience working in CNC machine shop or fabrication environments.
Apprentice-trained or higher qualification.
Experience within the aerospace industry.
Role Responsibilities:
* Review contract orders within our MRP system.
* Examine order production notes and drawings to ensure requirements can be met.
* Ensure all documentation and confirmation sign-offs are complete in the MRP system.
* Communicate issues to customers.
* Advise the programming team of customer tooling requirements to ensure timely order processing.
* Plan routings and BOMs in the MRP system to prepare for manufacturing.
* Maintain an engineering on-hold log and communicate updates.
Write component programs using Trumpf laser software. Responsible for maintaining programs and collaborating with offline programming teams to minimize errors and optimize tooling and machinery.
The post holder will lead from the front, identifying training needs and fostering skills development within the team through guidance and encouragement in a continuous improvement environment.
Strong communication skills will help team members understand coding within programs and how these impact laser and press machinery.
The role involves prototyping and proving out first-offs before optimizing for batch production, with significant client interaction to develop long-term relationships.
Additional responsibilities include machinery and personnel optimization, setting realistic targets within budgets, managing loading plans, and overseeing scheduling and workflow.
Applicants should be confident in using Trumpf software, experienced in working on prototypes, and capable of supervising and managing others effectively.
