Role

Kirklees Council is an organisation with an annual gross controllable budget of approximately £1 billion. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to work alongside a Finance team with a wealth of experience on a broad range of areas including:

* Strategic and directorate financial planning and advice, support to individual budget holders with budget preparation and monitoring, provision of the Councils principal accounting systems, and preparation of the Councils statutory accounts.
* Treasury management (ensuring that borrowing costs are kept to a minimum whilst earning interest from cash balances).
* Internal Audit (providing the Council with assurance that our internal financial and business procedures and processes are robust and provide a sound level of control).

Qualifications

You will hold a degree at 2.1 or above and have excellent A level results (equivalent of 3 × Grade B). You will need to be committed to working within a public sector environment and delivering a high‑quality Accountancy / Internal Audit service. You will be able to evaluate financial and management information quickly and accurately, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong literacy and numeracy skills, be comfortable with a range of IT packages/systems and be willing to study over an extended period of time.


Employment Details

Appointment will be at the bottom of the salary scale with annual progression upon exam success and satisfactory performance within the workplace.
