Advanced Health Care Assistant
As a member of the Diagnostic Health Care team, you will support patients accessing diagnostic services. You will work with radiographers and consultant radiologists to provide care in a busy diagnostic department, primarily within CT imaging.
The post holder will maintain the working environment within CT, give direct clinical and clerical support to Radiographers and Radiologists, and ensure efficient, effective service delivery with a high standard of patient care. Responsibilities also include administering cannulation (training available), providing assistance during patient admission and removal, maintaining equipment, recording clinical data in Trust IT systems, and performing basic administrative duties such as call handling and clerical work.
Working hours may include shift work, night shifts, weekends, and bank holidays, as the service operates 24/7 throughout the year. Availability on a 7‑day schedule and flexibility are essential.
Qualifications
* NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Care (or equivalent)
* 12 months experience working at Level 3 NCQ/QCF in care
* Clear understanding of core Trust values and ability to apply them in practice
* Knowledge of patient needs in an Acute Care setting
* Understanding of confidentiality requirements
* Good interpersonal and communication skills, including a polite telephone manner
* Proficiency in Trust patient administration IT systems
* Up‑to‑date mandatory training in fire‑safety, infection control, BLS, and moving and handling
* Experience or willingness to learn cannulation and basic blood collection techniques
Occupational Experience
* 12 months experience at NVQ/QCF Level 2 in Care
