We are looking for a Senior Civil & Infrastructure Engineer to join our growing team in the water sector.
Role Accountabilities
1. Project Delivery
o Collaborate with other discipline engineers and manage quality through design workflow reviews to meet time, cost, and quality standards.
o Ensure deliverables meet required standards and specifications.
o Review civil designs, calculations, and specifications.
o Conduct site visits for asset condition surveys to assess reuse potential.
o Check specifications, work scope, and schedules for procurement; review supplier designs for quality, safety, and technical standards compliance.
o For infrastructure design, verify hydraulic design of gravity pipelines and pipe specifications.
o Review construction site design queries and change requests to ensure prompt and accurate responses, maintaining design suitability.
o Support the Senior Design Manager and Design Managers in resource forecasting and allocation.
o Assist Project Design Managers and other engineering disciplines in planning and managing design delivery, and stakeholder engagement.
o Seek guidance from Principal Civil or Infrastructure Engineers as needed.
2. Health & Safety (CDM)
o Promote excellence in health, safety, and welfare within civil & infrastructure engineering.
o Ensure designs comply with relevant standards and regulations, including DSEAR (if trained).
o Participate in Construction Design Management meetings and assist in preparing risk assessments and pre-construction info.
o Develop alerts for lessons learned.
3. Personal & Team Development
o Support recruitment of civil & infrastructure engineers.
o Manage performance of line-managed engineers.
o Mentor and develop graduates, apprentices, and early-career team members.
o Contribute to continuous improvement and sharing lessons learned within the team.
o Support wider company initiatives such as HAZOP, ROV facilitation, and emergency responses.
4. Transformation
o Stay informed about industry innovations and best practices.
o Support the adoption of digital technologies like 3D modeling.
o Encourage design practices that reduce carbon footprint and enhance natural capital.
o Contribute to establishing and embedding standard assets and procedures.
Qualifications & Experience
* Engineering degree or equivalent experience demonstrating degree-level ability.
* Chartered or working towards Chartered status.
* Experience with water-sector assets and projects.
* Knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, and codes of practice.
* Experience mentoring junior engineers.
* Experience in a Design & Build environment (preferred but not essential).
