Component Development EngineerLocation: PeterboroughDuration: 12 Months What You Will Do:As a Development Engineer in the team, you will be expected to have relevant development experience, knowledge of IC engines and be able to lead, plan and execute challenging tasks and projects. Tasks will include:Execution of Core Engine System validation activitiesNew product development technical issue resolution.Conducting FMEA on components and systems to identify and address design risks and determine validation needs.Plan and execute validation tests.Conducting component and system design reviewsKeeping peers, team leader and management up to date with progress against planned activities.Support resolution to production, test and field issues, diagnose issues to root cause, put in place containment actions, and develop permanent corrective actions. Work with suppliers and keep stakeholders informed of progress and decisions What You Have:Basic requirementsTechnical background (HNC or technical degree preferred in mechanical or automotive engineering) though other qualifications or experience are equally valuedKnowledge in a minimum of one or more of the following Core Engine systems: Rotating Systems, Valvetrain, Castings, Lubrication, Breather and Cooling systems, Bolted joint and sealing experienceMinimum 3yrs relevant development experienceGood understanding of Manufacturing principles & processesDevelopment experience of mechanical components and systems, including both rig and complete system testing.Self-motivation and an ability to manage and deliver tasks to meet established commitments.Excellent communications skills & TeamworkDesirable requirementsKnowledge of industrial engines in diesel or alternative fuel operation.8D problem solving, Creation and Maintenance of DVP&R and FMEA’sExperience of running and participating in FMEAKnowledge and usage of Team Centre or similar data management softwareNew design development following the APQP methodologyFamiliarity with Microsoft O365 including TeamsDesign capability with Creo knowledge
