Location: Cambridgeshire

Start Date: September 2026

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £32,916 – £51,047 annually (actual) + TLR 2B



Are you a passionate historian ready to shape a brand‑new department? We are seeking an exceptional Head of History to lead the design and delivery of an academically rigorous, knowledge‑rich History curriculum within a growing secondary setting.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader, or an ambitious practitioner ready for their next step—to play a pivotal role in building a new department from the ground up.

As Head of History, you will:

* Lead the creation of a coherent, knowledge‑rich History curriculum rooted in strong disciplinary understanding.
* Shape the long‑term vision, ethos, and academic identity of the History department.
* Model exemplary teaching, learning, and assessment practices.
* Build, mentor, and inspire a future team as the school expands year on year.
* Develop high‑quality resources, enrichment opportunities, and cross‑curricular initiatives.
* Ensure History becomes a vibrant, ambitious, and intellectually rich subject that engages all learners.
* Provide coaching and support for new colleagues as the department grows.

* Experienced in high‑quality KS3 provision (KS4/KS5 experience is an advantage as the school grows).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
