Safran Engineering Services is seeking a Stress Engineer to join our team at our customer site in Cwmbran.
The role involves providing analytical support for structural and occupant injury simulations, collaborating closely with Design, Certification, and Production teams to ensure that seating products are lightweight, durable, and safe throughout their lifecycle.
The position is based in Cwmbran, with a flexible work arrangement: approximately 3 days on-site and 2 days remote each week.
Requirements
We are looking for an experienced stress engineer with the following skills:
* Part and assembly meshing, model setup, and analysis using Altair Hyperworks (Hypermesh, Optistruct, Hyperview) and MSC Nastran;
* FE checking and validation;
* Authoring and reviewing aerospace standard classical calculations;
* Technical report writing and presentation skills in English;
* Effective communication with internal departments such as Design, Certification, and Production;
* Experience with multi-body dynamic analysis and/or non-linear explicit FE analysis (Radioss);
* Knowledge of fatigue and damage tolerance;
* Experience with aircraft seat structures;
* Understanding of occupant injury criteria.
Additionally, a good understanding of:
* Loading requirements, including limit and ultimate, dynamic and static occupant injury standards;
* Behavior of metallic, non-metallic, and composite materials;
* Weight requirements and surplus material identification for weight optimization;
* Damage mechanisms such as plasticity, instability, and production imperfections;
* Aerospace regulations including FAR/CS 25-561, EASA Part 21 J, ARP 5526, and airframe specifications.
