Senior Quantity Surveyor – Renewable Energy Projects
Location: Hybrid – London HQ (with Remote Flexibility)
Rate: £500-550 (outside
Duration: 6 Months plus
We have a new freelance opportunity to join a leading renewable energy developer delivering a pipeline of utility-scale battery storage, solar, and onshore wind projects nationwide. We’re looking for a skilled Senior Quantity Surveyor to support projects from concept and FEED design through to construction and handover — playing a pivotal role in accelerating the UK’s clean energy transition.

Your Responsibilities
Pre-Contract / FEED Phase
Produce early-stage cost plans and commercial input for design and procurement.
* Prepare cost estimates, cost planning reports, and other detailed costing exercises.
* Contribute to commercial risk assessments and procurement strategies.
Construction / Delivery
* Manage cost forecasting, change control, and project reporting.
* Prepare and process applications for payment.
* Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and suppliers to maintain commercial control.
Contract Management
* Administer NEC3/NEC4 contracts.
* Assess and manage Compensation Events in line with contractual requirements
Stakeholder Engagement
* Work closely with internal engineering, finance, and supply chain teams.
* Liaise with contractors, clients, and project team members to maintain effective communication and a collaborative working environment
* Ensure smooth, commercially sound project delivery.
What You’ll Need
* 5+ years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor (infrastructure, civils, or energy sector preferred).
* Knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts.
* Experience in both pre- and post-contract phases.
* Degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
* UK driving licence (preferred) for occasional site travel.
