An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Portfolio Accountant which offers a highly sought after career opportunity to work in both a finance and operations capacity. The role will include overseeing the financial reporting and day-to-day operations of significant client investment portfolios that are either held via investment structures or as separate accounts. This position is a fixed-term contract for 12 months.
Key responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Preparing or reviewing financial aspects of investor reporting (monthly, quarterly and annual) working closely with portfolio managers
- Oversight of third-party administrators and external auditors
- Portfolio and investment-level performance analysis
- Valuation of investments
- Calculation of performance fees
- Presenting at various boards and oversight committees
- Liquidity monitoring, forecasting, credit facility management, investor drawdowns and distributions
- Calculation of foreign currency trades and hedging instructions
- Liaison with clients and their custodian banks
- Working with in-house tax, legal and middle office teams on deal support, including operational due diligence
- Preparing ad-hoc financial analysis
- Updating records and systems to account for AUM, transactions, and fees billable, reconciliations etc
- Ensuring compliance with internal controls
Key Skills/Experience
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) with up to 5 years’ PQE
- Prior financial services experience with Big Four or top tier accountancy firm, or in house experience at a real estate or private equity firm or administrator preferred
- Strong financial control and analytical skills are essential
- Good problem-solving, excellent attention to detail and strong excel skills are essential
- Proactive and able to organise your own work and schedule, with ability to meet deadlines
- Team player – able to work effectively and collaboratively within a small, dedicated team but also with the external service providers (ie. administrators
