Location & Working Hours
 * Location: St Andrews and St Brides High School, Platthorn Drive, East Kilbride, G74 1NL
 * Hours: 12 hours per week on a term-time basis
 * Work Pattern: Thursday 8am – 3pm and Friday 8am – 2.30pm
 * Hourly Rate: £13.64 – £13.79 per hour
Role Overview
The Community Resources team seeks an Assistant Cook‑In‑Charge to manage the catering service, supervise a team of Facility Assistants, and ensure food safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
 * Provide a high‑quality catering service and advise management on stock or quality control issues.
 * Count, balance and record cash transactions.
 * Prepare, cook and present a varied menu of dishes.
 * Coordinate function work and transfer food items to kitchens and serving areas.
 * Perform practical tasks related to food storage, preparation, cooking, service and cleaning of kitchen areas, equipment and utensils.
 * Carry out clerical and financial duties associated with the catering function.
 * Prepare meals, order goods, carry out quality audits and Environmental Health action points, and comply with food safety systems.
 * Supervise a team of Facility Assistants, including training, recruitment, attendance maximisation and team briefings.
Required Skills & Experience
 * Effective communication skills and ability to work independently and prioritise workload.
 * Commitment to customer‑oriented service and a proven track record in catering or hospitality.
 * Experience in supervising staff and managing catering operations.
