Caretaker / Site Manager

You’ll play a vital role in maintaining a safe, welcoming, and vibrant environment where children can thrive and staff can do their best work. From day-to-day maintenance to bigger improvement projects, this is a role where your skills will be valued—and where no two days are ever the same.
What You’ll Be Doing
Facilities Management
* Act as a key holder, including responding to out-of-hours alarms
* Open and secure the school buildings daily—no evening lettings required
* Take the lead in planning and managing maintenance and cleaning schedules
* Oversee the cleaning team and manage supplies and equipment
* Monitor heating, water systems, and safety compliance in partnership with leadership
Maintenance and Repairs
* Carry out day-to-day repairs, such as plumbing, decorating, and minor works
* Support small building projects and oversee external contractors
* Keep the school site safe, functional, and well-presented throughout the year
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
* Hands-on experience in building/site maintenance or facilities management
* Great practical skills and confidence to carry out minor repairs
* Organised, dependable, and able to manage your own workload
* Health and Safety knowledge and a proactive, can-do attitude
* Strong communication skills across the school community
Desirable:
* Experience in a school or similar environment
* Basic trade qualifications
* Enthusiasm for creating a safe and inspiring space for children to learn

Working hours are typically 6am – 9.15am and 2.15pm – 5.30pm Monday to Thursday, finishing at 5pm on Fridays – but we’re happy to discuss alternative patterns.
